The GOVgreen Conference and Exposition has placed 11th on Expo Magazine’s Top 25 Fast-Growth Shows of 2011. To compile the list Expo magazine concentrated on both performance metrics and new strategies, innovative ways of showcasing exhibitors and use of new media and IT.

Metrics were:

-  Square foot size

-  Square foot growth

-  Attendee size

-  Attendee growth

-  Exhibitor size

-  Exhibitor growth

-  Revenue growth

-  Attendees per square foot

 

Our verified attendance increased 29% over 2010,” according to Ann Seltz, President, Center for Environmental Innovation and Leadership. “The exhibit hall grew by 80% and exhibiting companies by 43%.”

CEIL’s GOVgreen 2011 also improved sustainability performance year over year. “Our goal in 2010 was to become the standard-bearer of sustainability for exhibitions and conferences while providing zero-waste and a carbon-neutral event, “says Seltz. “We worked with our vendors and suppliers to produce an event where we reduced waste and reused and recycled as much as possible.”

Both 2010 and 2011 events were net zero energy and carbon neutral. In addition, GOVgreen 2011 increased its diversion benchmark by 3% (to 73%), diverted 31% more trash in 2011 (6,965 lbs) and reduced waste-per-attendee by an additional 13% (or 1.8 lbs).
